My Cooperating Teacher while giving instructions
My Cooperating teaching, Miss Yunita Wulanduri is the only Physical Education (PE) at Kesatuan Bangsa Bilingual School, I immediately got curious. I found out that the school has system where the male and female have separate room, classes, dormitories, and taught separately. Only female teachers are allowed to teach female students, same rules applied to male. The majority of the school population is Islam, that is why they have this system that follow rules to their religion, respecting their cultural values and in line with their traditions.
During my observation, I discovered that their plan for teaching and methods of the teacher is far different from the Philippines. Each year level has the same sport topic that would span across the weeks of instruction. The difference is the level of difficulty adjusted based on the grade level, age and abilities of the students. In much higher-grade level, the skills taught are much complicated than the lower level. The first week is for the skills demonstration, the second week is for the student practice, and for the third week is for the performance assessment of the students measuring their level of skills.

In my one week of observation to my Cooperating teacher, she arrives at school very early than her scheduled class. Kesatuan Bangsa School has a teacher-friendly website that they developed where it provides easy access to a wide range of essential resources and tools. In that Kesatuan Bangsa website Miss Wulandari checked the lesson objectives that she needs to achieve at the end of the lesson, the specific goals and outcomes are written in Miss Wulanduri lesson plan. Miss Wulandari always check the school’s website to ensure that the lesson that she will be teaching would be effective. Miss Wulandari breakdown of how much time she spends in a certain skill and allocate the lesson to make sure that the skills are covered in time. After she checked all the things, she then proceeds to the field where the students are waiting for her. Miss Wulandari ensures that upon entering the field, she is prepared, organized, and ready to facilitate the Physical Education class.

The facilities that integrates education to their approach activities, steam clubs and participate in regional, national, and international competitions. 1.4 Authentic Assessment of the Teacher I Observed
The authentic assessment that I use and based on my Cooperating teacher is the performance task, a real-time assessment which the students are assess based on their performance. PE classes were almost entirely practical assessment. The students didn’t sit in classrooms talking about the rules of badminton or its history and then give paper-pencil test; instead, they were on the field, actively engaging with the sport.

As I watched her lead the class, I saw how the students responded to this method. They were engaged, energized, and eager to participate. Each skill-building exercise was an opportunity for them to grow, and by the time they moved into the assessment phase, they had not only developed technical skills but also a deeper understanding of the game. The way Ma’am Yunita structured the lessons left me with a profound appreciation for the power of hands-on learning, and I couldn’t help but reflect on how this approach could be applied in other subjects as well. It was a beautiful reminder that education isn’t always confined to textbooks or the walls of a classroom; sometimes, the best lessons come from the experiences we have and the things we do.
