After spending one month in UMBY, we are given an opportunity to experience the beauty inside the Mercu Buana from its comprehensive facilities designed to develop and nurture the students holistically. The complete infrastructure, modern designed classroom, and indoor gym where only Physical Education (PE) students are allowed to enter inside. From their research facilities that provides a conducive learning environment to learn and develop personal growth. The university is equipped with necessary things needed to ensure that all learners have the tools and knowledge to excel academically and professionally, preparing them for a competitive global landscape.
​One of the best things the Mercu Buana has offered was the incredible support and assistance of coordinators, mentors, and our buddies. These people are not only highly knowledgeable in their specific fields but also has genuine care for their students' success, offering needed feedback, guidance, and encouragement to students.

In summary, Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta is not just an academic institution but a place where students are molded and empowered to grow, excel, and achieve their goals. 1.1 SCHOOL PROFILE
The name Kesatuan Bangsa is translated as “National Unity” which reflects of the school’s primary objective, to foster and unite the students through education. The school was established under Yayasan Pandidikan Kesatuan Bangsa Mandiri in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Kesatuan Bangsa Bilingual Boarding School is considered as the top Cambridge School nestled in the heart of Yogyakarta, Indonesia known to its rich cultural heritage and academic excellence. The values and outcomes of Kesatuan Bangsa School includes Academic Excellence, Character Education, Global Perspective, Staff Professionalism and Development, Dialogue and Understanding, and lastly Technology Integration.
Kesatuan Bangsa Bilingual Boarding School offers a conducive and supportive learning environment, featuring modern facilities and comfortable lobby for students, faculty, and guests. It offers and implement the science education based on the Cambridge curriculum, while ensuring it aligns with National curriculum. One of the highlights of this school is to encourage the students to solve problem solving, think critically, and be logical thinkers. The students also developed the motor skills through various activities like physical education.
The school has flagship program that consist of different departments, including Guidance Department, which aims to optimize the different health of the student including emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. Through this it helped develop their interpersonal and intrapersonal skills. This flagship joined forces with the school office to foster the students to be a good role model and to become a well- rounded and quality individual. Another flagship program is the Career planning program which focuses on the career paths of the students, including planning and optimizing achievements aligned to their chosen career.

This school believed that each of their students has different skills, talents, abilities, and interests that is why this Career Planning would help the students to improve their individuality. The school has dormitory inside which served as home to those students who live far. The dormitory was built and designed to have a comfortable and create a safe environment for the students.

1.2 Academic Support System


Kesatuan Bangsa Biligual Boarding School is using a National Curriculum but supported with International curriculum – but has yet to formalize this curriculum integration to official usage. The school is enhanced and supported by resources and aligned with Cambridge Curriculum. Basically, they used National Curriculum supported by Cambridge Curriculum.
The school is blended with local competencies and characterized by international standard of learning. The used of Cambridge books particularly in Science, Math, and English plays a vital role in fostering learning environment for the students, preparing them to be globally competitive individuals.
1.3 Teaching System

In National Curriculum, the concept is student-centered, the teachers are facilitators of student’s learning. All the teachers in all subjects are obligated to make their student participate, recite, say their opinion and decrease the teacher’s participation during the discussion. The principal that we interviewed said “In reality, it is a bit hard, but we tried our best we force them to involve”. If the teacher noticed that a certain student is not paying attention or disengaged, the teacher supported it ensuring that every student is actively participating in the learning process.
About the duration of classes based on National Curriculum, the High School or translated as SMP-Sekolah Menengan Pertama and the Senior High School or they call it SMA- Sekolah Menegan Atas the teaching per subject is 45 minutes, the teachers give 5-minutes break before the next subject or the teacher will start his/her lesson. On the other hand, the primary level which only they have grade 1 due to the school’s recent development, only 35 minutes per subject. Despite the time, they follow to have 8 subjects per day to be discuss.

1.4 Materials and Other Learning Resources

For the National Curriculum, Kesatuan Bangsa Bilingual Boarding School utilizes many resources provided by the government and published materials by authors in National Curriculum. These resources provided by the government ensures that students can access the different learning materials grounded in the academic framework. Another materials and other learning resources is supply from Cambridge, not only they provide teacher’s book, but they provide online resources as well, but only for subjects: English, Math, and Science. Other core learning materials and resources are supplied through the National Curriculum.
There is also an organization named Eduversal, and educational organization located in Jakarta, Indonesia, this organization help Kesatuan Bangsa School when it comes to book distribution and they supply the book and other learning materials to be utilize in teaching.

The Eduversal work together with electronics company that provided teaching tools, including large touch-screen television, installed in each classroom. Eduversal ensures that Kesatuan Bangsa Bilingual Boarding School is equipped with materials and learning resources that the students need. The school also provide each student with Laptop- chromebook.

1.5 Measurement and Evaluation System
The evaluation process is inside the classroom through interactive questioning, another measurement system is through examinations at the end of the semester, quizez, projects, assignment, reports, and based on the students’ performance task. Every three months the school give the calculated grades and feedback to each student and gave it to their parents, so that the students will know the situation of their children and give aligned feedbacks. The official report cards of the students will be given at the final end semester.
The teachers have evaluation process as well. They have supervisions, they called it appraisal. The head of appraisal is in Jakarta, they visited the schools one in each semester to observe the actual teaching and they will ask the difficulty and problems. There is also an internal evaluation, the principal supervises the evaluation process of the teacher in each level. After the supervision, the principal will give suitable feedbacks, suggestions, and recommendations to the teachers to further improve their professionalism.
1.6 Curriculum
Kesatuan Bangsa Bilingual Boarding School use a diverse curriculum coming from National and International standardized curriculum- particularly the Cambridge Curriculum. These blends of curriculum give students insight not just in local teachings but in international recognized standards as well. According to the principal, the curriculum is not rigidly fixed. The school work hard to align the curriculum into adaptive approach, sometimes the school added the curriculum, edited, adjusted, and revised the curriculum based on the student diverse needs, learning styles, pedagogy, methods, academic abilities, and interest of students. In a nutshell, Kesatuan Bangsa Bilingual Boarding School continuously study the structure of curriculum to ensure the alignment, relevance, and effectiveness it can offer to their students.
1.7 Teaching Plan of Physical Education Major
The teaching plan of the teachers are totally depended based on their standards. All teachers make lesson plan, they are provided with syllabus and teaching materials and resources that are suitable for a certain topic. To support the needs of the students based on each subject, the teachers attends workshops. Kesatuan Bangsa School has numerous of sisters or partner schools from different cities, usually they organize an event or meeting with other teachers in different cities, they shared their problems based on teaching and give suitable feedback or will support resources. They find it very effective to talk about each other struggle while teaching because its reliefs their individual stress in teaching.

In my observation, I was surprised by my Cooperating teacher method of teaching. In Physical Education subject, the teachers do not enter the room to teach the student about the concepts, history, or give lectures, instead the students were on the field, actively engaging to the actual skills of sport. Physical Education classes were almost entirely practical, my cooperating teacher is very hands-on in teaching her students. She let students to stretching before she starts her actual teaching, focusing more on teaching basic skills required to play certain sport. This method of teaching left a strong impression on me, I realized that through this method the students can easily grasp the skills being performed. It integrates the idea that learning through experience or learning by doing can actually more impactful than teaching the students in theoretical manner which made the lessons more memorable and relevant.
